Afe Babalola, a famous legal practitioner created a surprising claim of ‘DSS not being sceptred by the law to arrest’ while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s News Night.
The Senior Advocate of Federal Republic of Nigeria (SAN) alleged that the DSS’ constitutional job description is to collect data that may threaten the sovereignty of country, that they relay to the President.
He created the revealing while querying President Buhari over the raid of judges’ homes administered by DSS operatives in 2016. Recall that while the secret Police blasted the raid on receiving intelligence that some judges stashed massive sums of currencies in their homes, it led to an outcry from varied corners.
Afe Babalola who maintained that the law outlined ways that to cope with erring judges, added that the raid created fear in some judges from delivering judgement without worrying or favour.
“The DSS duty in law is just to collect info and provides it to the President and every one that. they’re to not arrest,” he said.
“There are rules, laws of handling judges when they commit an offence. That has not been followed,” he added.
